This 757 has been doing the rounds over East Sussex at 6k feet half a dozen times now.

Any problems?

Update. It was off to the Middle East but looks like it's going back to base now?

The DM is reporting that an escape slide "fell off" over Tonbridge wells.

Surely that means one of the doors was open?

I thought the slides could only be deployed when the doors were open.... Presumably not.

I think on some aircraft the slide is fitted in a compartment under the door cill.

The Mirror site has it too if you'd prefer to avoid the Mail. It's helpfully illustrated the story with a picture of an A321, which has 'Airbus A321' painted on the side.

Thats a bad idea, it means you could loose the slide in flight...................

An overwing slide deployment does not involve a door SFAIK. If the aircraft is pressurised a door cannot be opened as it comes inboard and this cannot be done against the internal pressure. The overwing slides are stowed in the top, inboard surface of each wing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIFCPUGBNWM

Not being picky or anything, but there is Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells. But no Tonbridge Wells.

And you might lose a slide if it was loose.

There might be some wells in Tonbridge.

There is nothing well about Tonbridge

Right, back from work now....

It was really noisy this morning as it was quite low. It drowned out the radio.

At first I thought it was one of the big helicopters that we get down this way sometimes (a flight of Merlins went past a couple of months back) or a rescue helicopter dropping of at the local A&E which is just up the road from me.
