John Lowe who had threatened to kill his partner had his guns taken away after she made a complaint to the police.

His guns were returned after she withdrew the complaint.

Seven months later, after a row he shot her dead. The daughter phoned 999 and a very graphic call was recorded in which the daughter said, "if I go back into the house, I think he will shoot me" She went back into the house and he shot her dead.

Forgive my callousness. Can I see flaws in the decision making?

The complaint should not have been withdrawn and who would go back in to the house when you know he has killed your mother and still has a loaded gun. Madness!

The guy was an obvious drunken nutter for years, a crazed brute stopped at least twice from running a dog kennel by the authorities. One would rather not think about the 'puppy farm', or the behaviour of any of those concerned. It's like a miserablist 19th century French novel.

John Lowe sentenced to life imprisonment, with the proviso that he must serve a minimum of 25 years before being considered eligible for parole.

That means he will be at least 107 years old before he could be released.

Judges sentencing remarks are likely to reflect facts more accurately than press reports:

While the daughter believed Lowe had shot her Mother dead she wasn't certain and might have been able to help or at least confirm. How might any of us react in those circs?

I bet they wouldn't, because nothing you have said or indicated changed anything.

And as she got blown to mincemeat, with hindsight we can confirm 100% it was a damn stupid thing to do.
