 Electroménagère - Armel Coussine
I went to collect tthe vacuum cleaner from the electrician today. It had stopped needing new brushes.

There was a lady before me talking to the guy about her washing machine. And her dryer. And her fridge and her deep freeze and a few other items of white goods. She said what time she got up in the morning and what time she went to bed. She digressed at inordinate length on what she would have to do with the contents of the deep freeze while it was turned off. Plastic bags and a cool place or ordinary fridge, she seemed to think.

I sat down and had almost fallen asleep when the lady left. I wondered aloud to the guy whether it would seem very uncharitable to hope for a white goods glitch resulting in a just non-fatal case of food poisoning to concentrate that lady's mind.

The guy laughed. I paid the 30 quid and left. Have people nothing to do or occupy their 'minds'? It seems not sometimes.

I guess if had been fitted with new brushes at the electrician's, it would indeed have stopped needing new brushes?

I often omit commas if I think the sense will be clear without them. Too much finicky punctuation seems a bit American to me.

But there's always some brainless pedant to point the finger.

You definitely need a comma after "stopped".

When you are in hospital there will be a doctor's note about your heart:

It has stopped needing resuscitation.

And a little comma might have saved your life. :)

I've often wondered where the comma should go if I were to write of having opened the front door in my pyjamas.

Erm, what's going on with the thread title?

I wondered about the thread title yesterday... Getting longer and more corrupted all the time. I wonder if I reply to the thread Humph replied to if we get the same at that level. Wird.

I Like the title, I love it when stuff goes wrong

I like the fact each title is subtly different

It's just AC's little joke, a poke at electronic gadgetry.

It always amuses me in the local PO queue folks will be grumbling about the time taken to get their turn and the lack of staff. Then once in pole posn they undertake a series of small, non crucial and long winded transactions accompanied by unrelated chat causing the very issue they hate.

A search box appeared in the top left hand corner of the forum page too.

Can I start a campaign to get the 'forum' tab back where it was please?

I noticed it too, but when I refeshed the page it vanished again. I thought it might have been something left over from another site I was looking at beforehand.

I am intrigued by this multiplying code when all I did was put the correct accents in the title.
 Electroménagère - Slidingpillar
But when you reply to the post with correct accents, you get the start of the silliness!
