Jazz. 12 blokes covered in industrial magnets running through a saucepan factory waving baseball bats.

Alanovic, now that gave me a good laugh this morning :-)

Haha ! That beats the definition of a rock band: 2 or 3 musicians and a drummer.

Tempting, Roger, but how do you get the tracks to play? If I click on one, all I get is an "incoming jazz-on-line.com" message, top right.
|
If I click on "Ida Cox", then "Long Distance Blues", the track is downloaded as an mp3 which I can then open and play.
The "Long Distance Blues" link is incoming.jazz-on-line.com/a/mp3a/PARP2243.mp3
What happens if you click on that in this post?
|
As before, won't play There is a "no entry" type sign to left of the main window. Maybe you gave to Dpnate to get access?
|
I didn't. I'm using Chrome, Windows 8 if that makes any difference.
Is it possible some app is associated with mp3s and that's getting in the way?
|
That is, have a look at Default Programs in Control Panel.
EDIT: although I'm not sure that would prevent something from downloading, only what happens why you try to open it.

ambo, what happens when you try to play an MP3 file which is already on your computer?
I assume you click on it and then?
I have no issue with any of the links, they all seem to work. As does accessing the website "manually".
If MP£s normally play just fine, then it may be a browser setting. Do you have a browser on your PC that you don;t normally use that you could try it with?
|
I'm not aware I have any MP3 files or even what they are. I don't have another browser (mine is IE11). I don't know how to change browser settings. I tried "manual" access but that gave the same result.

Go to the shops, buy the record;
Archive of Jazz Vol. 23 Ida Cox
BYG Records Ref: 529.073
Track 6, Side A.

There are female vocalists out there who are famous for electronic / dance music who really can sing live and when the electrickery is disconnected. I give you Ella Eyre:

jazz... a good music spoiled
|
Pop = a god-awful racket.
|
Most types/categories of music have something offer if you open your mind and allow yourself to be interested. Not to say that they don't all encompass less than pleasing examples no matter whether they were composed two hundred years ago or 2 months ago.
To unilaterally say that an entire style is rubbish is perhaps a rather narrow view isn't it?

"To unilaterally say that an entire style is rubbish is perhaps a rather narrow view isn't it?"
It's a sign of growing old.

The exception that proves that rule must be 80's pop. There was nothing and I really mean NOTHING good musically that came out of that decay decade.

Not where rap is concerned.

>> Not where rap is concerned.
Some rap is terrific. The lyrics are often distasteful but there's no need to listen to them for sense. The speed and athleticism of the word-stuff is what impresses.
|
>> Pop = a god-awful racket.
Isn't that a bit like saying cars = ugly?
Pop is a very broad genre.

That clip of her singing without the benefit of technology is funny, but her name is on some excellent tracks eg.
