Brain knocked out by hot weather. What are the best varieties to attract bees?

Thanks for the link. I always thought Lavendula Angustifolia was a special variety but all it stands for is "English Lavender". Many common types such as Hidcote and Munsted seem just to be varieties of it.

And butterflies. Called it the butterfly bush when I was a kid (when dinosaurs still walked the earth).

Very true. In fact, to be honest, it was probably butterflies I was thinking about rather than bees....:-( It's an age thing...:-)

I know a joke about a woman who went to get butterflies tattooed on her buttocks. Unfortunately the tattooist misunderstood and did bees each side without telling her.

When she bent down and showed her husband he exclaimed "who the hell is Bob ?"

Freddie Starr used to joke that a W was inked in on each cheek and when he bent down it read.......:-)
