In a study to assess the dangers from pharmaceutical compounds appearing in the water we drink, scientists discovered traces of cocaine after it had gone through intensive purification treatments.

Likewise a good percentage of £20 notes are also likely to be contaminated.

I read in the South London Press a few years ago that traces of water were found in Thames.

Given that water is to some extent cleaned/purified, then one can only imagine the quantity of drugs in waste water before it is cleaned.

Just goes to show what truly minuscule traces of things scientists can find in water when they try. It would be interesting to know if there's anything traces can't be found of in the water that comes out of our taps.
Cocaine hydrochloride is hygroscopic. It can suck enough water in from the atmosphere to dissolve itself if you don't watch out. Ruins it for normal consumption. No skin off my nose alas these days, but just a bit of information for anyone interested.

There must also be a lot of sildenafil citrate swimming about in our reservoirs by now (active ingredient of Viagra et al.) though I can't say I've noticed.

"…………….. though I can't say I've noticed."
It might explain why my joints are getting stiffer.

How about your nose? Noses contain erectile tissue.

"I shall have to stop filtering my drinking water", I said softly.
