And "Opel Fruits, made to make your mouth water". Both advertising phases thought up by Murray Walker who was on Desert Island Discs yesterday. It's probably still available on the BBC player and is well worth a listen, a very entertaining guy who is happy to poke a bit of fun at his own "Murrayisms", including "There's nothing wrong with the car apart from it's on fire".
The choice of music was varied and very listenable too.

Tsk.
'Go, go, go!' The most annoying and redundant catchphrase in all the media if you ask me.
I suppose we can admit the geezer had an endearing side.

He ain't dead yet!

Thanks for the tip! On now. Didn't know the F1 theme was Fleetwood Mac.
|
>> F1 theme was Fleetwood Mac.
'Dumb dumb! dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb DUMB!'
Yes, very recognizable.
|
'Rise and shine - go to work on an egg' was his too, wasn't it?
|
Cracking programme - always very listenable....that was one I enjoyed.
|
>> 'Rise and shine - go to work on an egg'
Tried it but wouldn't start - forgot to pull the yoke out.......

The big hen failed...it needed new shells !

I really do apologise. Clearly no one recognised it because I left out some notes. What I should have put was:
'Dumb dumb! dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb DUMB!'
Terribly sorry.
|
= = > Terribly sorry.
That's okay, no need to apologise for being born in the wrong generation, it's not your fort after all.
(*_*)

>> no need to apologise for being born in the wrong generation
What could you mean? I've been keen on motor racing since before you were born probably...
Of course I start to salivate like Pavlov's dog's head when I hear the signal. I'm normal like that.
But as for Meatwood Flack I can take them or leave them. No favourite of mine.

On a related note, looking at an eighties number of the VSCC Bulletin last night - yet another delay to the major bumf clearance -, saw a stirring pic of a Formule Libre field heading straight for the camera spread well across the track, big Bentleys mixing it with Alfas, an ERA with twin back wheels, an early Healey I think, and well to the left an Aero Morgan or something very like it... I wonder if it was yours Sp, there can't be that many really.
|
A fellow student in my class at Sheffield won an all expenses holiday to Spain for coming up with "Colortune - the window to your engine".
I think they reneged on his booze bill.
|
Murray's autobiography is an interesting read.
|
They couldn't get more than 100% market penetration, so the mission was to expand the market.
So Murray came up with "an only budgie is a lonely budgie".
|
Murray Mints - The too good to hurry mints !
|
"Polo's - The mint with the less fattening centre"
and........
How the heck do they get away with advertising Quorn as "meat-free" Chicken pieces!!!!

The Esso sign means happy motoring.
|
Regrettably, these days, I don't have a Tiger in my tank:-(
|
But you can be sure of Shell.
|
And of prompt deliveries from the Esso Blee dooler.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be ......
