The capital "a" in "asphalt" - describing the type of lorry, was incorrect, as in that instance asphalt was not a proper noun, but more correctly, an adjectival noun.

I've just been looking up Speakers Corner, and note that the spelling seems to be about evenly divided between 's and s'.
You could argue either way - that lots of people speak there, or alternatively, that the whole point is that it gives a platform to only one at a time.
"... the whole point is that it gives a platform to only one at a time."
I'm glad you put it like that, Cliff. A lot of people would have put "... it only gives a platform to one at a time", which is not good. "Only" gets misplaced (or should that be "displaced"?) an awful lot.
As an ex-English teacher I find it hard to switch off sometimes...
But to have the full experience - that of hearing very imperfectly a seamlessly barmy and meaningless stream of mingled ranting and more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger intellectual garbage - you have to go there and stand in the crowd of smartass tourists. Haven't been for years but I never lasted more than five minutes.
You want it to be interesting or at least funny, but it never is in my experience.
