Good man. Some of those things could almost be tweaked into useful ones.

The remote controlled wheelie bins at the end for example. If they could have a few cheap sensors your bin could put itself out on time just as the truck is arriving and go back to wherever you keep it after the bin men have gone. So the pavements wouldn't be cluttered with bins. And be good for those who find moving them a struggle too.

It's not far off what a Roomba does now.

A robot bin couldn't open our blooming garden gate! Despite my shaving a good couple of centimetres off it in the summer, it is now jammed shut, by water expansion of the wood, to the extent one almost needs a battering ram to open it . Grr.
