 Memory Card - No FM2R
One of the girls just found a memory card in the street. 4GB. I guess it'll have come from a camera or a tablet or similar.

However, my PC refuses to recognise the card and says it must be reformatted first. I'm not overly bothered and not likely to spend a great deal of time on it, but I had intended to look on it and see if it could be returned somewhere - someone might really want it back.

Any idea how, using a PC, I could determine what file system it uses and thus how it might be read?

That's how a certain Middle Eastern power corrupted Iran's nuclear programme's computers wasn't - dropping a CD in the street, then some employee stuck it in a company computer...

Are you on Mac or PC? Ive tried putting an SD card direcly into slot on the Mac and it wanted reformatting. I then put it back into a stand alone USB card reader and was able to download images.

PC. In an external card reader and in its own.

Ok:( How about putting in a camera and USB link?

That won't work, unless by chance it is the same model of camera as the loser's one.

might do if the camera is set to save in jpg.

Chances are tho that memory card is cream crackered, thats why its been dumped in the street.

A nicked camera/'phone or other device containing an SD card and the scrote dumped the card to remove incriminating evidence?

I messed around with it and couldn't find anyway of getting in; I tried a couple of cameras and a couple of phones as well as my PC and a so-called "multi-format" card reader; so I formatted it and now have a 4GB scratch card. Seems to work fine, and I don't feel guilty since a) they're dirt cheap and b) I tried.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd keep an eye on your centrifuge, make sure it doesn't spin out of control.

I know I'm too late to the party here but I find the 'Diskinternals Linux Reader' useful for reading drives formatted in a variety of non Windows friendly formats on a Windows PC; personally I use it for copying TV files off my Vestel PVR onto my laptop.
