Clive James - Australian TV presenter who seemed to be on(too) many programmes at one time in the 80s and 90s. He was on the radio this morning so clearly still alive...not my cup of tea.

My abiding memory of his show was this lady...

He's the Daily Telegraph TV critic. He writes every Saturday.
I didn't think he had died - but doesn't he have some illnesses that have nearly killed him a few times (including Leukaemia). He is in his seventies.
I have to admit I quite like(d) Clive James' TV programme. The Japanese 'game show' Endurance was terrible but amusing at times too.

i didnt realise Peter O'toole wasnt dead until last week, i thought he died a few years ago after making one of those harry potter films
I thought Buster Bloodvessel died about 15 years ago. I even had an argument with a mate a few months ago, I was convinced he was a goner. He's still around.
I thought Bruce Forsyth was dead ... I still think he's dead.
"Sources say that Forsyth was entertaining a group of friends on the 7th. Always the joker, Forsyth stopped at the top of his stairs and pulled his classic "Thinker" pose putting his leg into muscular spasm.
This caused him to topple down the stairs and the shock caused a heart attack. He was rushed to hospital where doctors battled to save him but eventually he died in the early hours of the next day".
I really did think David Coleman died years ago....
Leonid Brezhnev is widely believed to have been in charge of one of the world's superpowers for quite some time whilst also being dead.
Ariel Sharon will have been 'not dead' eight years next month.
I always thought Chuck Berry was dead until I found out he was still touring. Can't be many of the original rock n rollers left never mind still touring!
Here's one for you.
Val Doonican, he of the pullovers. Still going.
Marty Wilde is still touring.....still singing Teenager in Love at age 74........
Little Richard is still alive..... in his 80's but I don't know if he still tours .....
Chris Barber still tours and he is 84 in April....I do see that he is on at our local theatre next year, his big band is quite brilliant and I saw him as a special guest with Jools Holland a couple of years ago ..... very keen car collector as well.
Fats Domino is still around at 85....
>> Little Richard is still alive
YOWL! Went to hear him live at the Hammersmith Odeon, along with Bo Diddley and his statuesque woman bass player. The warm-up group was an unknown boy band with a lot of hair called the Rolling Stones who showed little sign of talent. Before Andrew Oldham perhaps.
That was a long time ago.
Not forgetting Cliff Richard of course (however hard you try!)
>> (however hard you try!)
I usually manage, then someone spoils it by dragging him up... how does he stay so spry and young looking, with such white even teeth? Monkey glands? Virgins' blood? Asses' milk? Cybernetic procedures?
On reflection I think we shouldn't be told.
Notice you never see Keith and Cliff together?
Both music legends, both been round for ever...
I think this is a story in its own right. Cloning gone horribly wrong, perhaps?
>> Cloning gone horribly wrong, perhaps?
A truly charming thought Ian, but small point of order: Richard, stage name; Richards, Keith's surname.
Oh what a tangled webb we weave.
>> how does he stay so spry and young looking<<
He's never been married!

Yeah, but he is showing signs of age. My wife is a great fan and had a Riff Pilchard calendar a couple of years ago, one picture clearly showing a delightful bunion.
Use to follow Acker Bilk and his band around the North West and also when he took part in the Liverpool to Douglas jazz boat trips (all the top jazz bands were usually booked for the day's outing).
I have four Chuck Berry LPs personally signed by him when he appeared in Liverpool quite some years ago now.
I saw Bernard Cribbins on HIGNFY last week. Spoke to my expat mates who all said 'I thought he was...' Obviously, we haven't seen Jackanory for a long time.
Anyways, I see Bernard still wears an Airborne badge on his lapel, so hats off to him.
Looking at Bernard Cribbens on HIGNFY, I thought he WAS dead!
Many people act as if dead from the neck up.
See MP McShane.

Wasn't he Lovejoy? Or was it Bergerac?

That was Ian. This one is Denis.

I know it was. Ian Bergerac, right?
In fact, didn't that Denis Bergerac play for Chelsea once?
I thought Elvis was dead, then I went down the launderette...
thought he was working down the chip shop.
