Argentinian Police back to work - No FM2R

Some police in Argentina have been on strike over pay. This has led to murders, supermarkets and other shops being looted, suspected yet innocent looters killed and a whole range of nasty behaviour.

However, the police have now achieved a 47% payrise and have gone back to work happy with the £900ish they will now take home each month.

So they were on £500 is per month. A different world.

The French police have been known to go on strike, or anyway demonstrate and hand out leaflets to the citizens.

Of course France and Argentina - most countries really - are republics in which the police are supposed to uphold property and the law. In monarchies like ours their tradition is upholding property and the ruling class (which makes the law). A little different, but only a little really.

Rampant inflation over decades means Argentinian currency is worth less and less when viewed in $ or £s. Argentina defaulted on Sovereign debt 10-12 yrs ago.

Much of the Falklands bravado was and is used to deflect from the internal politics and cash problems of the Government.

Look at the cost of living for Argentina. An Argentinian policeman is paid stuff all even if you look at it in Argentinian pesos.
