just logged into hj as its on my speedial as im on linux tonight (thought i would warm the valves up) anyway oilrag? is he now working for the back room
i know i think it was pda says these forums could run in unisoon but if you go to i have a question its he with the microphone on 8 threads in a row
i couldnt even do that on knitting weekly

If he left the BR, it would be a ghost town. He must be paid for the devotion surely. Either that or he likes the sound of his own voice :-) I have heard an echo when ive been over there.
|
I am still bemused by the percieved censorship he had on here. I had a brief chat with him to see if he would join us back here, but he was adamant he wouldnt.
|
i assumed the perceived censorship was his and only his
im sure i didnt see any?
|
Everytime I attempt to visit the site I just get a load of pop ups and give up. Now I could run something like Stopzilla but HJ is the only site I use which has popups so I am now downloading more bloat just for the sake of HJ.
|
I never caught the censorship issue, anyone wanna recap?
Given the edgy issues we have been having a stab at discussing of late and getting away with it, Im at a loss as to what he could have said that would have been censored.
|
No idea. He claimed a couple of posts of his were deleted and he had a row with a moderator about it. I should have made it clear, the talk of censorship was his perception.

I do recall some of his posts going missing. But he posted those on HJ and they vanished. None of the moderators there know anything about it. I'm not even sure any posts went missing here.
Oilrag seems happy posting the majority of posts on the HJ site doesn't he.
|
>> No idea. He claimed a couple of posts of his were deleted....
He claimed a post of his was deleted on here a little while ago as well, from a smoking thread ## And because of it he said that's why he ceased posting on here and asked for his account to be removed. Given that he's supposedly had several posts deleted on HJ, I can't understand why he didn't make the same request there too if he felt that strongly about it.
## Reading his posts, I sometimes wonder what he's smoking and whether or not it's legal :o)

>> I sometimes wonder what he's smoking and whether or not it's legal :o)
From the little I know of oilrag, I would say he's a lot less like that than many here: a man of austere personal habits but active imagination. I don't understand why he doesn't post here though.
|
All I know is I read posts of his on HJ, they vanished (and he complained) and nobody could shed light on it... And yet he posts there and few will read his interesting thoughts at the moment which is a real shame.
|
>> a man of austere personal habits
Great description :-)
|
>> I don't understand why he doesn't post here though.
As I said, he claimed someone had deleted a post of his from a smoking thread. I can't even recall there being one, and 99% of the time we tend to hide rather than delete so we can refer back to it or if a decision for its removal needs to be reversed. I'm not even sure if he confused a deletion of a post on HJ with one on here.
|
I certainly never saw one and would have 'bitten' if I had:)

I definitely remember a lengthy post of Oilrags on HJ from when he was overseas. And then it vanished. And nobody knew who deleted it (it was not hidden). I think this is what he thinks was deleted here. But it wasn't. Someone removed it over on HJ. It was nothing to do with smoking though. It was related to his overseas trip and I think he typed it all on his smartphone.
I think he may be confused about where his post got deleted from. Or he had posts deleted on HJ too but he let them off the hook.
|
>> I definitely remember a lengthy post of Oilrags on HJ - nobody knew who deleted it
Or was there a bug in the forum software? I think there was quite possibly one or two from what I recall before I left.

>>Or was there a bug in the forum software? I think there was quite possibly one or two from what I recall before I left.
I started a thread there about interest rates which disappeared at the same time as oilrag's. The mods searched, but couldn't find any trace of either.
|
...asked or his account to be disabled...
just stop posting - oh no, too simple, must make an 'issue' out of it.
Comes from a life spent 'working' for a local authority.
The answer to everything is to waste a bit more time and money by having discussions and meetings.
A post of mine was deleted today. To me, the mod who did it was just plain wrong, who's he to impose his taste on everyone?
I decided not to moan about it - until now.
Oilrag's posts were mostly impenetrable drivel, but I wouldn't delete any.
And on the 'broad church' principle' I hope he comes back.
After all, every village needs its idiot. :)
|
I miss the feller, he knew how to look after a car proper like.
|
>> Oilrag's posts were mostly impenetrable drivel.
Impenetrable maybe. "Drivel" unkind. There but for the Grace of God go I.
I too hope he returns of his own volition.
>> After all, every village needs its idiot. :) Totally unnecessary comment (and this is from someone who usually sticks their foot in it".)

I think Rattle and I manage just fine on the village idiot front, Im not sure why he wants our niche to get more crowded.

Its good to get a specialist skill.

Well with you having the local misery covered, positions are few ;-)
|
all we need then is the village crone and its full employment.
|
Im not sure the wife wants to sign up ;-)

@ Rattle
Seems OK on Firefox with Adblock Plus.
It's just the tumbleweed, sadly...

I suspect he has been drinking too much 20/50 mineral water!
I really wish he would post here too but mainly as he has the same car as me and they are both more less the same age.
I've always respected his opinions.
|
I miss oilrag's contributions. I wish he'd psot here a bit.

I still dont understand them.
No-one there does either.
|
I know one thing - he has yet to declare me the winner of the Name That Plant Quiz that he posted over a month ago on HJ.
The rotter...
|
Just looked `oilgag` up. looks like a right `pseud` to me.

as I mentioned earlier, he asked for his account to be deleted.

If he gets back in - let`s hope he doesn`t start posting the usual twaddle.
|
Oily if thats really you,
a. hello matey and welcome back
b. i'll know if it's you cos unless you're talking cars i won't understand half the prose..;)
c. some old fashioned car care advice sorely needed here, i reckon half the blighters haven't cleaned off last winters salt from underneath, let alone greased or more properly waxoyled the underside.
|
...if that's really you...
I doubt it.
A short post in this thread at 18.03 yesterday was under another name, but is now under 'oilrag'.
Both these posts are short, understandable and don't take themselves too seriously - not like the real oilrag at all.
If it's not the oily one, then there could be a breach of school rule number nine:
www.car4play.com/forum/policies/house_rules.htm
Or could there?
If the real oilrag no longer posts, and the forum name 'oilrag' is available, what's to stop someone using it?
|
>> I doubt it.

Me too, the real Oily's post would have been cryptic.
|

Mayhap he writes in code, like The Bible code ... I'll run his stuff by my Enigma machine, when I get a mo.

|
It`s me!
For better or worse. Can I respectfully suggest, case closed? ;-)
|
yes but are you on the hj payroll?
|
>> It`s me!
You great tit. I hope it *is* you, and not some oaf who's stopped in the niddle of the San Juanico Bridge to pee over the side.
|
>>You great tit
He may be a parus major, but he's our parus major!
|
Hi Mike....If it's really the main man.
Still keen on the old Silver Fox ?
Ted
|
Sorry if that was unclear, it was a complimentary utterance of YGT in surprise and manly gladness.
|
Silver Fox? Tit, Subframe - grease? Yes ;-)

Oily,
I see that the large amount of posts by you on the HJ site is being rewarded.
