Unable to accept comment for legal reasons - movilogo
Why some news on Daily Mail's site have comments disabled?

What exactly determines whether to accept readers' comments or not?

Legal advice.

Most common in cases which are live from a contempt of court angle. Unlikely for example that they'll be taking comments on Bill Roache's case. Neither would they on any of the recent child murder cases like Tia Sharp or April Jones.

Other examples are where speculation might land them in libel type trouble or where there might be privacy injunctions. Stuff on Sunday about Tory sex scandal is a case in point.

Comments are pre-moderated on some reports as well, for example the hoo-hah over the fee paid to junior counsel to the Leveson inquiry.
