Diplomat fan oven problems - nice but dim
Hi, the main oven and grill on my Diplomat ADP3300 single fan oven has failed. The fan comes on and also the oven lamp but no heat is generated from both elements. The main oven element has been replaced 12 months ago and starting to think that either if that fails it cuts current to the grill or maybe the thermostat switch. However if i turn the temp dial from rest to max, it clicks so maybe not the thermostat. I'm off to the local appliance diy shop in the morning to chat about it but wondered if you guys have had similar problems? Timer set to manual so that cant be the issue, usually is after power cuts.

If it the grill still worked, but not the oven, I'd say the replacement oven element 12 months ago was substandard.

Are you _sure_ the grill doesn't work?

I've put 2 or 3 oven elements in our fan oven (which is used most days), but it's still on the original grill element.

Funny that, the main oven element in my Electrolux popped yesterday. Still got the grill/small oven to fall back on. Order the element on line last night - 27 quid delivered. Its 6 years old.

"Diplomat fans oven problems"

sounds like a Frank Muir / Denis Norden punch line.

Wierd one, went to local electrical repair shop and guy behind counter seemed bemused by my description. He offered to test the main oven element for free and it worked. So faced with a more confusing choice, he said it could be the bulb, oven, grill selector switch and at £58 fitted, I made my excuses and left to think about it. Fitted the element back in for the time being and WTF it started working??? So just biding my time for the next failure!

Thanks for the replies

Check all of the connections which handle the mains power which feeds the element.

As I mentioned in the S M E G thread, the quality of the connectors I found when I took the back off wasn't great.

I found the main connector to the mains had a badly damaged neutral connector which had partially melted the connector block. Luckily, there was a spare connector, and I made up a new terminal for it.

Pretty sure I had a Diplomat, and it was from MFI, who went bust. I found a company via Google who had apparently bought up all their stock - probably easy enough to find again if necessary
