"A shocked couple found a dead bird in their Tesco salad - after they had started tucking into dinner.
James, 30, and Jasmine Watson, 32, of Yate, Gloucestershire, made the grisly find in a £1.50 bag of the supermarket's Babyleaf Rocket Salad when they began eating in dimmed light.
The five-inch bird, which Tesco later identified as a Blackcap European warbler, was inside the salad which Mrs Watson had ordered from the supermarket’s website three weeks ago on January 30.

Not if it is described as "ready to use" or "washed"!
|
I still do....if you saw the state of the water in the carrot wash up the road from me, so would you!

"e had the food delivery a couple of days before and then had gone out for a few drinks"...."Unable to contact Tesco's customer services, the couple went to the local Tesco Extra store that evening"
Hope either the drinks were non-alcoholic or the Tesco Extra was in walking distance!! :-)
I have to say I'm always surprised that this kind of thing happens, there must be so many QA and weight checks (aren't there?) that it must be virtually impossible.
I suppose it's just my suspicious mind leading me to thinking they could have dropped the bird in to get £200 of Tesco vouchers and their 15 minutes of fame......

If you read the DM page, it's not the first case: praying mantis in one!

An insect or a slug, things that live in/on the salad plants, I can understand. But a whole bird?

The same could be said of meat not being what it says on the packet.
I wish they'd gone the whole hog and tested for human DNA in the food chain. What is in that béchamel sauce ?

Probably too big for the salad bag, and you'd have noticed when trying to lift it off the shelf.
|
Very daring taking it back to a store..
tescos normally charge more for salad with meat...

In other words, completely starling?

Why ? They've changed the labelling to help you out.
The nutritional information has changed from calories to horsepower.
|
I know the branch of Tescos where this was purchased, and a colleague does her weekly shop there.
She was horrified to find it was the same salad she buys.
I think the whole thing is fake, I mean, who goes out for a few drinks and then comes home and opens a salad!
|
Exactly Mikey
When you get home after a few drinks you want a pie
Preferably with four and twenty in it.
