Ain't you tube good for that sort of thing.
I've been learning how to strip down a Sturmey Archer gear hub.

I've been learning to play my clarinet and unclog a shower drain...!
|
It sounds the same in his hands.
|
You can always use the clarinet to clear the drain, it won't be money wasted.
|
I've got past the basics...makes the Cocker howl though.

The cocker sound better I wager.

Granted - but he is yet to master Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major though.

That's hardly beginner material RP! BTW is that the Music Minus One edition?

If you're playing the part written for clarinet in A on your Bb instrument, with the backing track, that might explain the howling.
:)

Thank you both.
Clearly what I should have asked is how does one bodge one of these on without the correct tool!
However, those videos helped me work it out.

The twist on ones do a good job and don't need a tool:

And I shall go and buy some tomorrow.
I just found some of the others in the back of a shed and it would have solved a problem easily if I could have used them. I managed to use one but it was so hard without the proper tool that I shan't be bothering with the rest.
This is all part of a house & TV re-wiring project which is driving me nuts.

Yes I use twist on ones, you need to make sure you have correct size ones for correct size cable,
|
The secret with twist-ons is to leave enough of the placcy core to just poke through the hole in the middle and not to try getting the length of the central conductor right when prepping the cable. Just leave it long and trim post assembly.
The one that really seperates the men from the boys is IBM 5250 Twinax connectors......

there's a blast from the past!
the boys wouldn't know one if they saw one, and the men would have to be on the grey haired side to remember them
|
I have a twinax coupler in junk box the garage. My hair is not fully grey yet.
and
a B-Loop faceplate. Bet you never saw one of those.....
|
I think I did actually, but from the front, I used such devices without ever having to wire them, assuming you mean the kind of thing used on 8100s & store systems etc which were loop networked
You qualify in the greying category anyway :-)
|
And any of the connectors that are outside can be assembled with a bit of silicone grease to keep out the weather.
