it was being refurbished and he was a contractor. kinda throw a whole new light on the story, one the BBC seems to have decided to ignore for some reason.

Presumably just releasing info given by the Police.

Shouldn't really be reporting 'local knowledge' unless confirmed by 2 sources.

The BBC story has since been edited But perhaps the original meaning was that the store was closed as a result of the incident?

Man killed in suspicious circumstances by electrical fault in M&S.

Omigod, Killed! Suspicious!

Next BBC report..

Contractor, not customer, died, not in suspicious circumstances, while working on an electrical fault, on M&S premises atlhough not actually in their store.

God love the BBC.

I think they were reporting what the Police told them - "it's being treated as a suspicious death" initially.

ie. guy dies by electrocution - someone may be at fault - a possible homicide (manslaughter) is being investigated.

Nothing to see here, move along now.

In the same way as I may report sudden/unexpected deaths to the Procurator Fiscal who may ask the Police to investigate (even if there are no 'suspicious circumstances')
