 Movember - Bromptonaut
Any of us growing a 'tache for charity next month?

I've had one since 93 and a matching goatee since 96. Cannot manage a full set; sparse and asymmetric growth on cheeks.

A strange business for me, this beard/moustache growing.

I have an absolute mop on top of my head - especially considering my age. When I try to grow a beard, it looks appalling, a variety of colours and small areas around my chin where no hair has grown at all.

Being aware that Movember was fast approaching, I recently stopped shaving my upper lip. After a week, there was still nothing to see unless I stood at a certain angle and in a certain light.

So I gave up and shaved off what little bit of bum fluff that there was.

Shaving is just a Faff.

I'd like to then i could send a pic in to The Chap magazine tweeded up under the section 'Am I A Chap', however whilst clean shaven i have a relatively harmless appearance (not what any sane person would call handsome), that swiftly changes to itinerant you'd cross the road to avoid if i don't perform the shaving ritual daily.

This has been my 'style' for the last 15 years, I'd feel naked and somewhat vulnerable without tit.

I cant stand the itching as it grows....

Quite good with the designer stubble tho, if I have me 'air cut at the same time I do a good impersonation of phil mitchel.
 Movember - Ted

That's exactly as I envisaged you Bonzo...especially after the ' legs ' !

My beard is white but the 'tache is more mottled. I keep the lot well trimmed, giving it all a mow about every 3 weeks. I shave my cheeks a bit to keep it all neat.....Captain Haddock...eat your heart out.

Interesting snippet in the paper today, scientists have found that the content of an ' anti glaucoma ' eye drop can promote hair growth. I'm on this stuff, just in my right eye, and when I mentioned it to the dragoness this morning, she said she'd noticed my right eyelash had grown considerably.

I have to start a new phial every 4 weeks and there's always some left in the old one. I wondered about dripping it all onto the top of me bonce and rubbing it in...Probably sprout overnight and I'd wake up looking like Einstein !........I do like having a no. 2 cut, though.

I'd feel naked without my 'tache.

I've considered a Ronnie Drew style beard as I get older, if only to prevent me looking like those beige trousered designer pensioners you see all over the place. It's like a pre-death uniform, light check shirt, brown loafers and hair brushed back. I make a point of always wearing jeans with my shirt hanging out and a pack of twenty visible in the top pocket.
 Movember - R.P.
Pack of twenty what though ?? ;-)

Viagra ? Need 20, eh ?

Lemme know how you get on with that 'stuff' then Teddy, I could do with a few more airs 'n braces.

I first noticed my hairline receding when I was about 15, I used to rub Bay Rum into my hair back then :)

I also tried Regaine back in the early 90's when it was only available via prescription , the pharmacist used to larf at me - he was as bald as a coot!

I suppose now at 60, I haven't got too bad a head of hair really, but it's always been that thin fine flyaway stuff,
so I should really 'man up' and get my quite excellent Oster deluxe pro-power clippers (Made in America) out and go for a number 2 :(
 Movember - zookeeper
my bonce and or facial hair tends to turn back on itself after a few days so im always clean shaven i cant stand the itching otherwise... but i look like an old goat , i prefer to look 25 and not 60 so my misses keeps telling me

 Movember - Dog
It's the gubbings I'm particularly interested in, mr beekeeper.

I'm now anti facial hair. While I admit I'm rubbish at lipreading, I do try, but beards and tashes hide the lips and make it next to impossible.

As to why do I want to lipread, answer is I have no choice, I'm completely deaf.
 Movember - No FM2R
>>I'm completely deaf.

I had a girlfriend years ago who was completely deaf. She was a stunningly good lip reader. Provided she could see your face and realised that you were talking to her, it was only neccessary to speak sensibly.

Whilst I fully appreciate the difficulties and disadvantages with deafness, she did seem to have a lot of fun with other people's private conversations, especially in noisy places like discos and clubs. (I did say it was years ago!)

Well, Ive actually taken the challenge and become a Mo-bro!

My Movember page is here:

I know that times are hard, but any contributions would be very gratefully received no matter how small.

Thanks in advance (and hope!)

I grew one last Movember. My hair is, ahem, silver, these days, but unfortunately my tache was resolutely ginger. As others have observed it was dead itchy, and was quite painful to shave off at the end of the month.

Its good to see some attention being given to mens cancers for a change though.
 Movember - Badwolf
Oddly, mine isn't at all itchy. If I let my beardy hair grow for more than three days, it itches like beggary though. Quite strange.

I'm getting quite fond of the Mo. I find it good for stroking in a ruminatory fashion.
 Movember - Zero
Like a cow eating you mean?

 Movember - Badwolf
Nope, like a human thinking. The word has two meanings :-)
 Movember - Zero
I have to say, I have seen more luxuriant facial hair on cows.
 Movember - zookeeper
zero, is that the same cow that fell out of your boat?
 Movember - Dog
>>I have seen more luxuriant facial hair on cows<<

What, like this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Annie_Jones.jpg

OMG, Bonzo..........I've been out with her !

Ted
 Movember - Badwolf
My Mo may be woeful, but at least I've made the effort! :-)
 Movember - Ted

Yes, bravo for effort, Rob........and for putting forward a new meaning for the word ' woeful ' .

I would have got involved meself but I already sport a manly, white moustache which keeps me out of the game.
