The dishwasher has died. - Old Navy
No not me, the basic <£200 one lasted eight years and is indicating a door switch fault. I have removed the switch and checked it OK both mechanically and electrically so it has gone in the too difficult box (skip). If the next <£200 one lasts as long I will be well happy, £25ish a year for almost daily use is OK by me.

Whenever my washing machine door switch fails electrically I just by-pass the terminals and wire it permanently connected. You need to remember not to open it when full of water, obviously. :)

The switch checks out OK, something else is causing the tantrum. Good job it is not a grand brat, I can think of one or two people who would object to the skip treatment. :-)

I am the dishwasher in Chateau Helicopter.....

The space for the dishwasher in our kitchen is more gainfully used for a rack of 60 or so bottles of wine....

And you drive an upsidedown eggwhisk? :-)

I wouldn't expect a dishwasher bought for £200 today to be made well enough to last 4 years let alone 8. Even ones much more expensive have cheap build - and I refer to what were once the better makes.

But even if it was £50/year I'd still gladly pay out for a dishwasher every time.

I have both, that way you can sit down and swig the wine while the dishwasher does the work for you.

I keep a supply of wine in the cellars. Dishwasher in the kitchen for me too.

No utility room for your white goods? Thats a bit Council House. :-)

Washing machines, etc are in the cellar. Two rooms. Kitchen stuff is in the large kitchen. How's that council house (this was never one). Our previous house had cellars too.. Bigger of course. And we sold it for a significant amount in late 2009. Which is why we will have money for the overseas property (see Green Mile actor thread about dying young).

I know you weren't serious ON :-)

Scullery, yes, for the washing machine.
But isn't it handier for the kitchen staff having the dishwasher in the kitchen, rather than risking carrying the crockery down stone-flagged corridors?

Frankly Zeddo , I am very particular about washing up and I prefer to hand wash china and glass, particularly the Wedgwood service and the crystal glasses . ......

SWMBO's next project is to revamp the kitchen ( we are currently having a new patio done and the garden looks like the Somme) and she has declined a dishwasher , even a free one... she prefers the wine as well.... did I mention the 200 or so bottles in the garage....

I would have thought someone with Wedgwood and Crystal glasses would have known the variable temperatures in a kitchen is not good for wine.

No telling the nouveau riche from Crawley New town I suppose.

The ONLY heavy item allowed in the caravan is my crystal wine glass;)

Go with the cold 4:00 am breakfast does it?

Frosties when at home...yes.

Uncut bread toasted with Cornish butter when on holiday though...no!

Doorsteps...delicious:)

Must have a wide slot on that toaster ;-) I know you mean it's not a sliced loaf.

As the thread drifts to toast, anyone know of a good source of wine racks for standing in the cellar? Because they will be out of site, don't want to pay much for them.

Make them yourself out of Bordeaux crates. If you buy a lot of wine your wine merchant will be happy to give you some.

Never saw that as an either/or situation.
