Anyone want a mountain bike? - Iffy
Recommissioned my Schwinn mountain bike the other day and decided after a couple of rides it's surplus to requirements.

It's been in store a while and is in virtually as new condition.

Mesa GSX model with decent spec - Shimano Deore gears, RST fork, Alex rims, Tektro brakes - for those who understand these things.

17" frame which means a tall rider would be leaning forward a bit unless the bars were raised.

Similar bike today would be around £400.

Pretty as a picture in blue and ivory:

now posted in my Flikr acocunt R.P.

I'm posting this on the off-chance someone near or by North Yorkshire or County Durham might be interested.

I suppose some money would have to change hands, but passing the bike on to someone who will get some pleasure from it is almost as important to me.

Thanks again.

For what it's worth I believe my last link was only viewable to someone already logged in to a Google + or gmail account.

In my defence, that wasn't clear when I created the link in Picasa.

Will use a different sharing site next time.

That seat post is up high when the handle bars are so low, do you have a bad back now?

A bigger frame may have been best.

I thought it looked a tad uncomfortable too, unlike my critter: flic.kr/p/c9Uuv9 IMO

The classic mountain biking position is leaning forward because it's easier to handle the rough stuff.

Mountain biking gloves - mittens - have gel pads on the palms because the riding position puts more pressure on the inside of the hand.

A smaller frame is easier to chuck around the rough stuff, and the lower top tube is handy because that bounces up and down a fair bit.

When you are stood on the pedals - well forward, as above - a bounce from a higher tube can give your rude bits a nasty clout.

The top tube slopes which means there will be a fair bit of seat post showing.

Do present-day bicycles still incorporate British Standard Cycle threads tinyurl.com/9lkxbpj, and would my BSC dumbell spanner fit any of the nuts?
