Just had a peek at the online statement and have a charge for £67 to a company called Kartik Ltd in Aylesbury. The only thing I've spent that sort of money on here recently is diesel at a BP garage here. Don't have the receipt anymore to double check the amount.
Do petrol stations occasionally trade under weird names or should I be giving Nationwide a call? Out of the UK at the moment so can't drop by the petrol station directly to ask.

Unless the amount is the same as the amount of diesel cost I'd definitely be calling.
A couple of years ago I had a phone message when I landed at Manchester airport to call Barclaycard about some transactions. They had flagged as suspicious. I'd just got back from Greece and the card was in my wallet.
Someone had got enough details to use my card to buy a few things online or over the phone. No idea to this day when the card details were taken - I never leave them out of site. Moneys refunded without a problem.

A little Google research on "Kartik Ltd" shows their address to be
76 Bicester Road
Aylesbury
Buckinghamshire
HP19 8AL.
A look on Google Earth, street view, confirms that address to be a BP petrol station.
I think you can relax!

Yup

Nope. 67 quid smells like a tankful of diesel to me. CC scams don't start off with sums like that, you need to look out for several 99p transactions and then a biggy.
67 quid is not a scammers amount.

£67.01 is more like a tank of fuel :)

He also bought a packet of crisps and a Yorkie bar.

Google Kartik Aylesbury. I think its probably the station down the bit of Bicester Road inside the ring road, by the Audi dealer?

Aren't we all helpful? ;-)

Sorry Roger, I could have phrased that better :)
EDIT: and indeed I had missed the fact you had confirmed it was a garage; I hate it when people do that to me!

Our original posts crossed, I think - that later one of mine was a light-hearted self (all of us!) congratulatory throwaway!

Credit card companies categorize spend so if you had called them they could have identified it as spend on fuel
I've had a few odd transactions and upon calling them they have been able to tell me roughly what the spend was for - usually enough to jog the memory

A few years back, after a trip to California, I had 4 roughly (not exactly) equal unexplained debits of £750. Mastercard refunded me but wouldn't say more, except to report it to my local police. The policed said that, since the offence was commited abroad, they could do nothing but took the details and said they had this outfit under surveiilance already (to what end, I wonder, since they had said they could not help). A Los Angeles friend looked for the company with the help of his local office of the Better Businness Bureau but they had no record of it.
