whats the point of these so called games lanes for the Olympions? i thought they were all staying in the brand new olympic village on site? who is going to use the lanes apart from the press
|
Yeah, but they are not all playing their sports in the yard outside the village are they.
Horse guards parade, greenwich park, wembley, woolwich, Eton just to name a few venues.
Also the bigwigs are staying in park lane,
|
theyve never heard of oyster cards then?
|
The guys going to Woolwich will have guns with them....... Guns and the tube dont mix.

A question for Z
Have you cracked how to use your Oyster Card yet with extension tickets? I am assuming that you live outside the designated Zones - I cannot see how to do it unless you leave the train at an intermediate station at the edge of Zone 6? Advice from different Network rail employees conflicts!
|
My Oyster card is slightly different. Its basically an all zones season ticket, but I cant top it up or add stuff to it. On the other hand I dont have to worry about touching in and out to get the correct or cheapest fare.
So I can buy a SWT return to the edge of the zone, stay on the train and touch the oyster on exit in London. IE I dont have to touch in to get in the system but I can touch out at any point in the Oyster zone.
|
Does that mean that if the Oyster is touched out only, it automatically assumes a Zone 6 entry?
Have you come across the 'advice' that it is not valid to 'stay on the train' if it is a fast train not stopping at the 'edge' station?

No idea, not my problem. LOCOG is getting a flat rate for the card use I understand. If It was my card I might worry.

You should have a "valid ticket for the journey" I guess a non stopper is not a valid journey for oyster card split.

I am almost looking forward to her court appearance for fare evasion - appearing in full Olympics uniform - with about 5000 other people. My advice is that if she is stopped she offers name and address only (ie not penalty fare). Address as c/o Horse Guards Parade, since that is effectively where she is living with the dreadful shift pattern!
|
To be honest, when in uniform with pass showing, they dont even check. The guards just nods and walks past
|
From www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14870.aspx it would seem that they are only concerned about evasion of "pay as you go" fares.
Why touch in and out?
So we know where your journey started and ended and can charge you the right fare if you're using pay as you go.
If you don't touch in and out
You'll pay a maximum Oyster fare of up to £7.80. You might also get a penalty fare or be prosecuted.
