Been playing some of his Purple and Whitesnake highlights from my LP collection this evening. Highway Star, Woman from Tokyo, Here I Go Again and the magnificent, gut-churning intro to Perfect Strangers. Great musician, capable of supporting others rather than needing to hog the spotlight, and, as far as I could tell, a loyal and decent man too.
