What colour is it supposed to be - the same as the ceiling, or the same as the walls?
|
It's whatever you want it to be. I viewed a bungalow in which the ceiling was pink, the walls were mauve and the coving was white. The room looked like some sort of cream cake!
|
Anything you like. In my lounge the ceiling is white, the walls buttermilk and the coving pale blue.
|
In my old place the covings varied - from dark green (kitchen) to a light blue in one of the bedrooms to white in other rooms. When I "neutralized" the place prior to selling they all went white and looked a lot better for it. The dark green was a pig to re-paint

Traditionally the same colour as the ceiling.

and down to the picture rail.

White it is then! I'll stick with the traditional because it's an old house, and i can't be bothered to buy another colour.

We are arranging the complete re-decoration of our daughter & S.I.L.'s house, which is currently VERY brown varnish!
All ceilings and coving to be painted white, all woodwork to be painted white, all walls the dreaded magnolia!
All carpets a mix of a beige/light brownish colour
All very neutral is the idea.
Mind you, it is for letting out for a few years!

Coving - Anything but NOT the same colour as the walls. (unless the walls and ceiling are white)

How did you get this photo of my Grans outhouse?!!!
|
My mum would like that. She found a few rolls of old wallpaper in my new house. It matched the existing decor that was last done sometime in the 60's. "You could use this", she said, "it's not too bad".
|
Don't dump it. It'll go for a good few bob on eBay.

I wish I'd thought of saying that!

Painting it the same colour as the ceiling will make the room look bigger; painting it the same as the walls will make the ceiling look higher.
