My new job means that I am now working from home for 3 days a week and SWMBO is fed up of my papers either being in the lounge or dinning room and probably a bit fed up of me being around the house.
We don't have a garage and I need somewhere to escape to so I was thinking about buying a garden office.
Has anyone got any experiance of these, that is what to look out for, what should it cost etc.
Thanks

Some people just buy a standard £500 garden shed, then put insulation in it. It will then probably cost around £500-£1000 to get the electrics fitted depending on how much of your existing system needs modifying.
One tip you will need more space than you think you will.

Planning how to get power and data out there is high on the list.

Since power cables will need to be laid anyway, I would have thought the only logical way to get data is to use an ethernet cable assuming the run would be less than 100 metres.
Planning permission is probably another consideration.

This was my 'summer house' a few properties ago, it was a good one (£2000) plus groundwork and had electricity installed: goo.gl/maps/GN0N
It was boarded and whitewashed (emulsion) inside and although I didn't heat the critter it was always nice n' warm in the winter plus its ideal for getting away from the ole woman!

If I`d had a fence like that, me thinks I would have started "Mr Myaggi" training courses!

Isn't that a Wendy house?
|
>>Isn't that a Wendy house<<
Is it? - I don't really know, its got the main bit on the RH side and a sort-of open area on the left where me and BIG Terry (now dead Terry) used to sit in the winter sorting out the worlds problems.
It wasn't in that position when I sold the property 5.5 years ago, it was closer to the bung then, and facing the lane (the sun!)
That fence wasn't there either, I just had the Cornish hedge fund, then.

You and BIG Terry were in your wendy house?

Or, you could remind your wife that the reason she has a house in the first place is that you work and that she could usefully stop moaning, get back in to her kitchen and do some cooking or ironing.
Oh, and that she could be a dear while she's there and bring you a nice cup of tea in the dining room while you get on with a spot of breadwinning...

.....and treat her to a pair of nice shoes with square toes so she can get nearer to the sink.

well they were meant to wash up anyway, nature deemed fit that they should have shorter feet by default
