Will you be voting?
According to the Guardian 71% of women in the East of England had no idea it was even happening.
I fulfil only one of those criteria but I think I knew but only in a distant "aren't they talking about something" sense, not in an actual voting in November sense.
Good idea or not, panel?

Dear Lord, just seen Prescott on that bike, his standing alone answers the question for me.
This is one area where politicians should keep their grubby noses out, i know thats like expecting the earth not to turn but still.

The only way it isn't going to be a disaster is if it's completely ineffective. You can't be chasing popularity by moving police resources around. Mad idea, just another way of wasting some money. It won't be cheap.
I wonder if Prezzer will don a uniform if he gets the gig?

Look at the powers of the elected police and crime commissioners. We could sack the Chief Constables and leave all the operational deployments to the new political commissioner.
