Ok, tomorrow I'm off off-roading at the launch of the facelifted Mitsu Pajero* (ie Shogun) sport.
Great - wife and sprogs are invited.
Then today, get this little gem on the email:
Hi Ian
Don Henley has been confirmed for 1.45pm on Tuesday at the Table Bay hotel.
Life in the fast lane, or what?
Apparently the word 'pajero' is a euphemism for onanist in certain Spanish speaking countries.

" Table Bay hotel.

Would have to be "Hotel California" for you "Boys of Summer" surely?

Gonna find out pretty mama - what turns on your lights!

Just a thought - some of you may have never heard this unique live tour version of Hotel California with the El Degüello style trumpet call at the front

Not my idea of an outrageous party, but someone else paying makes for a heavenly bill :)

Don Henley - never heard of him. Google alleges that he sings a bit.

well, I still rate Boys of Summer up there with some of the best tracks ever recorded.
Anyhats - did about 400kms in the Pajero/Shogun yesterday.
Some beautiful b-road driving, motorway stuff, played about with the acceleration a bit - the standard accelerations - 50-60mph, 60-75, 75 to 85. Tons of torque from low-down (2000rpm) in 5th, so no great problems.
we went to an off-road track, where they test Toyotas and Goodyear tyres, and had a real blast up and down mountains - about 900m climbing, with full low/4wd/centre-diff-lock/rear diff lock stuff.
Amazing to crawl down some sections totally 'foot-off', with compression doing the job.
Saw lots of small deer, lizards and insects, some amazing scenery, and enjoy the fresh air.
Took the kids, who were equally impressed.
Off-topic: On saturday night, about 10ish, had to drive out of town in some heavy traffic due to the local jazz Festival, which had snarled up the roads before and after. Got past the piles of muppets who didn't have a clue where they were going, and started to make progress - round the corner and *flash-flash* great - ~90km/h in an 80 zone.
What was I driving? a Sandero! I must get a pic, to send to James May!

Me too. Sadly, I have yet to find anything else he's done as a solo artist that I've ever wanted to listen to more than once.
