Good evening all. Just another HJ refugee blowing in to claim asylum, that and to test my account works ok.

Hi Mord.
Welcome aboard.
Anything else about yourself and what you drive?
Having had multiple Citroens, BX * 2, Xantia and Berlingo *2 I've since converted to Skoda and now have a Superb estate.

I am an aerospace engineer and I drive a suitably dull car, a Mazda6 Tourer Sport Nav (petrol of course) following string of Fords. Had it just over 7 years now and whilst my annual milage has dropped to very low levels now that I WFH the majority of the time, I do quite fancy a change to something automatic. Keeping a keen eye on the upcoming 6e due next year.

Ah. A fellow aerospace engineer. Were you with Shorts?

I was indeed, for my sins. Left a number of years ago to go subbie. I think the place is in a bit of turmoil at the moment, with the Boeing/Spirit/Airbus split. Fingers crossed my old friends and colleagues will come out of it ok.

The Daily Telegraph review of the Mazda 6e was not exactly glowing
1) It's Chinese design & manufacture with Mazda Badges
2) It does not have the balance of Buttons and Screen Functions.
DT Verdict
The Telegraph verdict
Obviously, Mazda needed to develop an EV platform for rapidly electrifying markets and its existing joint venture with Changan provided the means, however this car feels like something pushed on by management which knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
The Mazda 6 was a gem in the market of large hatchbacks, with fine dynamics and a comfortable ride, along with economical and likeable drivetrains. This all-electric replacement, while it looks lovely, with a comfortable, commodious and beautifully finished interior, would have benefited from another six months in the hands of the dynamics engineers working with the software developers.
Some of the more difficult touchscreen ADAS systems in the market might be just possible to overlook when you consider the price, but I felt bitterly disappointed given what has gone before from this company.

Theres plenty of video reviews popping up from European outlets on Youtube (thank goodness for translated subtitles) where its already on sale, and many are quite complimentary. Seems very quiet and refined on the move. Neither the design partnership with a Chinese firm nor the lack of buttons would bother me too much, at least not as much as it bothers the Telegraph. I will simply judge it on its own merits when I get the chance and if its not to my liking, theres plenty of others to choose from. Ultimately, the only opinion that matters really is my own :-)

Well the HJ forum is now moth-balled. No doubt the daily site hit rate will plummet and the whole site will close in a couple of months. The last post there was rather fitting, thanks Heidfirst!

I fear you may be right; I certainly can’t see a reason to visit again. New content on the front page was sporadic at best and other sites simply do it better with more regular news and articles. The Good and Bad sections for each car I always thought was a USP for HJ but I can’t seem to find those now, guess HJ doesn’t want to tread on any toes.

Thank you, I only realised myself this morning that I had the last post.
