Heh heh. Caught this story yesterday.

And you have to shut your eyes when you sneeze. It's a wonder we're allowed to take the wheel at all.

"If this evidence wasn't conclusive enough, the Police have warned that drivers getting behind the wheel while suffering from a heavy cold could be prosecuted. "

And as the old bill have no medical or legal way of proving such unless they call a Doctor, thats not going to happen is it.

The article gives no clue as to which Policeman gave the warning or when. Pound to a pinch its what the writer thinks the might say.

"The Police warn, that if you are stopped and judged unfit to drive, then you've committed the same offence as someone who had driven on illegal drugs such as cocaine."

Really, and what offence would that be? Driving under the influence of drink or drugs contravenes Part 1 section 4 of the RTA.

What could you be charged with if you we unfit to drive as a result of a cold?

A tissue of lies obviously.

S'not true, is it?

Bet you'd still have to cough up if you receive a ticket. 60 quid fixed penalty probably- not to be sneezed at...

Not surprised, you flu by the camera

Reading the article again it might be poorly edited.

Police might reasonably warn about effect of over the counter remedies some of which contain as much alcohol as a Sherry. Not enough on it's own to put you over the limit but add in a glass of wine.....
