Don't they own Volvo or did that deal fall through?
Don't confuse the crap they make for the Chineese domestic market with what they may produce the European market. I assume the stuff will go through NCAP so if it fails that they have a limited market anyway.

They bought Volvo and also have a 20% stake in LTI.
The CK1 model didn't do very well in the Brazilian NCAP test. CK1 probably stands for Colin Klein (Calvin's younger brother) it was his first attempt at car design.

Really don't think there is any market for this in the Uk though!

It looks like a mid 90's Escort.
Really is quite shocking when you think how well even the smallest of European city cars perform in crash tests.
I would hope that any Geely imported into the UK would be a much better car, and they have Volvo on hand to make it safe.

Minor thread drift re Chinese cars - has any one here seen a Chinese MG in the road?
|
|
Not seen any MG6s but I have a post MG Rover TF on a 59 plate I think it was.

Yeah, as it happens I have - last weekend. There is an MG / Ford dealer in Datchet, they pushed the only MG they had onto the road so they could load more Fords onto the sales forecourt.

No, not a single one.

Strange to relate, I happened across the MG dealer in Newcastle on my travels today.
As might be expected, the used stock was non-MG, but there were a handful of new MGs on the forecourt.

But none on the road?

...But none on the road?...
No, but there would have been if I'd asked for a test drive.

Actually Geely's latest model has been given 4 stars by Euro NCAP. Not a stellar result, granted, but the Jag XF only got 4 and don't think of it as unsafe.
