Makes sense to me. An important accessory to the spare wheel, brace and jack. Prevents you getting soaked if you get a flat while it's peeing down.
Pull over, yell "Offside front!", pull the boot release and wait.

And who on here, over a certain age, cannot deny doing similar - particularly with kids?

If ever there was a post one might have wanted to think about first...

You and some mates are out and about with a sober driver and a few deliciously mini skirted non misery guts birds want to join the crew, meaning, oh yes, leggy lap girls....no sorry girls it's not safe...yeah right..;)
Had at least 4 once in the boot of me Volvo estate as well as a full passenger area, meant those poor blighters didn't have to fight their way across high ground when their work shuttle mini bus couldn't make it through the snow drifts...no chance of being pulled, not a police car to be seen.

Been there, back when rear seatbelts were unheard of and fronts were optional, made sure that there were only 3 heads showing though and small kids sat on floor.
Number of passengers limited by the sag in the springs ;0)

I once had an ex who was stalking me hide herself in the boot of my Capri when I was taking her replacement on a date.
It turned into a fraught evening...
|
No really ? Excellent. Bit like having a spare tyre I suppose.

Serves you right for having the noncy Mk2, there was no room in the boot of the Mk1 - tried it, so I only had a choice of 4 that evening.....

Her replacement................that tickled me. You wouldn't have wanted an Anglia Van then.....Builder style....

Naw, sorry Dog, that IS a Mk1 (a)
The Mk2 was the hatchback version.
Mk1 1970, facelifted Sept 72.
Mk2 1974-1978
Mk3 1978-1986 (minor facelift 1985ish... upgraded to TX series locks, tow eye in rear panel)

No problem Dog - Marks are hard to suss for ANY make/model of car, things keep being modified, and new version stuff tried on early cars....
... for instance, Mk3 Cortinas from about 75 had Mk4 dashes... lights were changed slightly as well.

That's one of those stories where they haven't really told you the story. The bit that's missing must be a lot more interesting than the bit that's there. Or maybe not.
