Gwynedd Council screw the paying parker like this - the thieving bunch of scoundrels set prices so that it's difficult to have the exact change (IYKWIM) - e.g. £1.15, £2.25, 3.35 - so if you don't have a tiddler, BINGO ! - I only use their car-parks if I have the right money or use their free long stays.

The english taught them
I know one place where its 1.05p per 30 minutes.
|
I parked somewhere today and over three hours parking was £1.10. Up to three hours 80p. The £1.10 ticket will expire on Monday morning! That's good value for you.
|
I drove into a public car park at Ambleside because SWMBO spotted the 'public conveniences' sign (I thought my prostate was bad, but it's nothing compared to hers).
Whilst waiting, I thought it may be worth a look around the place, until I saw the parking charges! I also realised it was camera controlled. We sped out at the earliest opportunity. Even she thought it was extortionate (and she shops at M & S).
I've been expecting the dreaded PCN since, but hopefully it looks like they've got a sensible charging regime, or it's on it's way.

Its difficult to tell you this old chap but if she's got a prostate she isn't a she.

After forty-odd years and a couple of kids, I think I may have a suspicion or two.
You stick your fingers where you're qualified and I'll..................
I was trying to use a little poetic license. ;>)

Where can us mere mortals find such luxury?

Chester-le-Street. A long stay car park. A nearby one that was short stay was more. I didn't find spaces in the closer one(s) and had elderly relative. We were going to a wedding.
I doubt many on here would go there.

I'm a long way away fromn there but Co. Durham is lovely in lots of ways and I visit it when I can.. Chester-le-Street is good for cricket in season.
Doesn't Iffy live up that way?

As a type who resents this sort of skullduggery I will admilt to carrying a bank coin bag in my door pocket with minimum £5 worth of £1, 50, 20, 10 and 5p coins to defeat the cunning money raising plans of the parking nasties.
|
Denbighshire have a similar parking price structure - but at least they let you pay by text.
Lake district parking is expensive but at least the money they raise is ploughed back into the local amenities.
|
I drop all the 20p and 5p coins I get into the centre console in the car - I always have change for car parking, and for garages that charge for air that way.
|
I keep my change hidden away from prying eyes in the ashtray.
I understand scrotes will break into a car if they can see anything that may be worth more than a couple of quid.
|
Blimey - 80p (etc) to park!
Went to Manchester on Friday evening and it was £11 in an NCP! No issues with change though - paid with a credit card, thankfully my credit limit just about covered it!
I was thrilled when I got back as my car was still flanked by the same two cars as when I left it. :)

Toying with a visit to a show at the Wembley Arena - £20 parking for the evening show!

I have to go into central London regularly. I always have a sense of having been financially abused when I leave.
|
NCP carpark in Pavillion Rd Knightsbridge is £10 for an hour £32 for 4 hours and £40 for 24 hours

Had to go to the Register Office in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago. It's buried away behind the council offices in the city center and a nightmare to park.
I ended up in the Arundel Gate NCP. £5.30 for 45 minutes and with the narrowest parking bays I've ever encountered.

We are grateful for you financial contribution. If you can afford a posh shed, you can afford to give us your dosh.

Market rules. Limited supply of parking but lots of demand on match/concert nights.
Might be worth seeing if a nearby hotel has any cheap deals. Otherwise the tightwads park in the streets near Stanmore or Cannons Park stations. An irritation to local residents as long ago as when I lived out that way c1980.

Theft.

Plenty of cheap places to park in Manchester if you know where but it depends how far you want to walk.
|
..and whether you want your car back.
:-)
|
We often park near our local station for free (or walk) and get the train into Manchester for £2 return. But if we go to the theatre or the Bridgewater Hall we'll drive and park as at that time we prefer to get back quickly (evenings). But then the parking is a bit pricey.
