 High life parts - sooty123
Just changed some parts on a megane mk2, the air filter only needs changing every 36k or 4 years. That seems a long time to me, the filter looked like a standard filter to me, nothing special, not expensive either £10. Anyone else's longer than that on bog standard parts?

If it's only a tenner - stick a gnu one in then.

I have this afternoon, just looked in the service book to see when it was lasted changed and found the interval. Seemed a bit high to me that was all.

When I look at mine I'll give it a good knock out on something solid, if anything falls out I'll backflush it with a vacuum cleaner (Hoover).

The oil in my daughters car only needs topping up when the low pressure light comes on, I have given up on oil changes after 20 years without her actually killing an engine. :-)

Don't tell me Walt - you then put the oil filter in the dish washer, right!

I hadn't thought of that, maybe I'll try it. It certainly brings up carbs and other parts a treat.

Somebody on here the other day said they had 'dysoned out the house' or somesuch. Sign of the times I guess - or is it oneupmanship?

Ah, but has anyone dysoned a house with an Electrolux yet?

I hate my Dyson, it's far too heavy and bits pop out all over. It's like an impossible jigsaw to get it all back to normal.

Give me a proper Hoover any day.

Mrs ON relegated an almost new upright Dyson to the garage/car and demanded a "proper" Hoover. She now has a Miele thing she drags around the house by its hose, must be a woman thing, the Dyson is a good bit of kit (for the garage/car). Can't comment on the Miele, never used it.

I dialled a number yesterday, although strictly speaking, I've not dialled a number in years.

My wife does the ironing. The iron she uses is aluminium and plastic.

Seconded (although a "gnu" one sounds a bit like bull....). It's amazing how much goes through / gets trapped by an air filter.

When the Chernobyl business concluded, a mate was a semiconductor researcher and had the use of a fully equipped lab.
He changed the air filter on his Allegro and idly wondered how much radioactive nastiness might have been trapped in same with the volume of air passing through it. He put it in a carrier bag, took it to work and pointed the geiger counter at it.

The ensuing outbreak of sirens, full lab lockdown and need for hazmat disposal made him very unpopular. While the level of contamination in the jolly old atmos was very low, enough of it had been concentrated in his old air filter to officially render it hazardous nuclear waste.
