Car insurance is due every year i shop around and have gone on the price comparison web sites for the best quote not always the cheapest.
And every year after i have got a "deal" somebody always says you should have tried so and so there much better.!!
So my question to you folks is who do you recomend?
Back in the day before all this computer tripe the 0800 numbers was what i did for a quote is this still a good idea? heard some firms don't use the price comparison web sites?
At the grand old age of 38 now want a cheaper quote as i was told i will get at 25 but that never seem to happen.!! Thanks all. Tony.

I recommend The Co-operative Insurance. tinyurl.com/5awbfb

Both ours are with Elephant and have been for a few years now. Usually have a quick look around, but the price is amongst the lowest for the level of cover (FC, Class I Business, Protected NCD, Driving other cars) - the big co's that make a big play of not being on the comparison websites are no where near.....

Your local broker with a shop if you have one near you
he will get you as good a deal as available and probably cheaper too
remember its also easier to hone your needs to a face rather than a screen
dont forget the legal advice protection i got this for a £10 when i changed insurer last month

In my experience, a comparison website will give you a good idea of what's about.
I use GoCompare, they don't bug you with loads of maketing emails, but I imagine the other sites are just as good.

They just bug you with their annoying adverts.

I used Direct Line for years, as they twice paid out more than I thought my car was worth following a write-off, however their premiums went through the roof ( cause and effect..) so now I just shove my details in confused.com and take the cheapest of the main bunch of quotes I've actually heard of.

I do the same, currently that has led me to More Than.

Comparison sites are fine, but Frizzels/Liverpool Victoria are worth a call, and depending on the car NFU (i'm with) sometimes have surprisingly good prices for high quality cover.

just assume your existing company is going to stitch you up like a kipper, and take any of the majors insurers introductory offers (20-30% discount) every year.
|
They don't all do that Z, mine went up this year and i searched out of interest, initial quotes looked rosy till you fetched the excess down and tacked a courtesy car on, then the quotes came up to my regular insurers rate.
That was before negotiating for business cover and reporting the heinous crime of having different to standard tyres, that'll be a fun conversation with some.

I had that one again with the Post Office this year ( can't remember actual insurer), knocked 50 quid off the renewal cost and reduced the excess from 400 to 150 quid as soon as I asked them to cancel and send me the statement of no claims.

Go to gocompare.com and check out the prices, including your current insurance provider.
More often than not you will get an offer of a better deal with your present insurer. Just cancel the current cover and renew it on line.
I've saved literally hundreds of pounds over the years this way on both car and house and contents insurance.
