I've got an agreement from the Ubergruppenfuhrer, that if they actually build the estate version of the XF, we can have one.
I've been keeping an eye on things..and even rang Jaguar..but nothing formal out yet. Autocar seem to think it'll happen though.
The 2.2d 8 speed auto (saloon) out performs the original 2.7d twin turbo in the 30-50 and 50-70 overtaking type figures. Impressive.
2.2d estate in 'luxury' trim, dark blue with beige leather and a sunroof...hmm, dream on.

Who would have dreamed that Jaguar Land Rover would be owned by an Indian car manufacturer? It's a funny old world.

I'm damned glad they are though. Revived the brand big time.
More to the point though, some years back, who would have put money on Auto Express labelling a Jaguar product 'Car of the Decade' (XF)...and Autocar awarding one with 5 stars (XFR).

Not as good news at seems, because I assume they are doing it so they don't have to rely on Ford, which no longer owns the company. So I am not sure if this will create any more money, as I assume there will then be a lot of spare capacity in Fords engine plants leading to potential job losses there?

Is the 2.2 their own engine, or is it another PSA unit?
|
Just answered my own question - appears to be their own unit - more torque and less bhp that the 2.2 psa unit

No, it is the PSA/Ford unit. Just different mapping on the ECU giving the different torque/bhp outputs.
