 Scratch Pens - Fullchat
There are a lot of outfits selling these scratch pens which supposedly obliterate minor scratches in car paintwork. Would be the answer to my dreams as it seems that each time SHMBO takes out her tango orange Focus it comes back with another minor scratch.

I'm sure they must contain snake oil but has anyone actually bitten the bullet and bought one. If so what were the results?

I've bought them in the past, but found they cover a too large are and end up looking a bit of a mess.

I use a permanent marker now to go over the big scratch on my car where that minor dent is. Unless you look closely it is the same colour. A bit difficult on an orange Focus though!

I have used permanent felt tiped pens for small cosmetic scratches, good range of colours and tip sizes. Also plentiful if you have kids, or in my case grandbrats and an artistic OH. :-)

Watch the youngsters with the permanent ones!

This is just papering over the cracks, fix the root cause.

Get rid of SWMBO.

However till you do - do us a favour, buy one of the pens and lets us know, as I have a couple of scratches that could be looked into.

Black cars have some disadvantages in terms their propensity to look dirty within a couple of miles but they conversely have the advantage of being easily touched up with a black felt pen. Stone chips etc are a doddle. Also they don't tend to show tar spots as much as lighter colours.

Did you recommend SWMBO bought an orange one because it is not a snooker colour?

Does SWMBO have matching lipstick?

Worth a try, the scratch pen I used with limited temporary success on my last Focus looked like lipstick to me.
