hi room, ive got 1200 quid and i need a cheap reliable economic car
theres only me and swmbo and we do about 10k a year
monies a bit tight but we are both over 50 and have full no claims
any help would be appreciated

thats a good choice, and if that kind of car floats your boat how about a Mitsubishi Charisma

What size / type of car do you want or prefer? Is the 626 about there on those criteria? I guess I'll have to say Mondeo before anyone else does ! Chain cam engines, cheap parts, good to drive too.

Oh OK. All I can tell you is I had 3 of them all run to high and in one case very high mileages and never had a problem but fair enough.

My old man had a petrol Mondeo before osteoporosis forced him into an MPV, not a Quashquai I should add :-0
Comfortable, lots of toys, cheap to service and 100% reliable.

I had a 626 diesel on a W plate IIRC. Took it from ~50k to ~170k miles with very few problems. Mysteriously one of the injectors developed a leak after a visit to the garage and it was looking very costly to fix so I swapped it for something newer. If you can find a good one then I would recommend the 626.
