Tesco was slammed last night after it slashed petrol prices - for people buying cans of tuna.
The supermarket giant is cutting 15P per litre off pump prices for shoppers. But they have to spend £50 in store.
The catch is that shoppers have to buy a four-pack of Princes tuna in brine - and a 30-pack of Coca-Cola.
A 15p cut would take Tesco's cheapest unleaded to 114.9p per litre.
But AA president Edmund King said: "Drivers want to fill up with a gallon of petrol - not a gallon of Coke.

I really, really HATE all cola drinks. I haven't researched the reputation of Prince's tuna, but I do know there are many parts of the world where tuna is over-fished and I avoid eating it. I also despise Tesco's desire to take over the world.
Somehow I can't see myself taking advantage of Tesco's generous offer.

Well people will fill up once and then not bother; I'd buy the tuna if it wasn't in brine. Not Coke, which is disgusting stuff. But then I'm also unwilling to go to Blackpool to find a Tescos. Preston is blissfully Tesco-free.

There's quite a few here who dislike world domination plans, we'll stick with Lidl's, Aldi and Morrisons.
Popped into Sains t'other day, strewth soon hightailed it back out, how can the many old folk that go there afford the vegetables, must be those ex public/civil service pensions..;)
|
10p per litre off at Sainsbury's till 3rd for a £60 spend. Vouchers valid for 14 days.
|
Local LIDL's got £5 off for a £30 spend voucher in last week's offers leaflet, repeated this week.
|
I find Lidl is expensive, when monika was made redundant we did a weekly shop in lidl and it was more expensive than morrissons, even excluding the tat I bought from their special offers section. Too tempting is the other problem.
Tried Aldis again after years ago trying it and hating it, aldi is brilliant now, although can't get everything there.
For me it's Chapmans the butcher, the fruit shop in wishaw high street, aldi and morrisons.
And shell vpower for the most important shopping.

Probably because we prefer to pay a little more for good quality edible veg.

I love it, but I already have at least 50 cans of Diet and Coke Zero in the shed from previous BOGOF offers, and I hate Tuna. Looks like I'll just have to settle for the 5p off voucher when I go shopping Sunday (that is if I spend over £50).

Not keen on Tuna, missus likes diet coke.
Most of our shopping is at the Coop nearby.I fill up with diesel at the adajcent BP station.
Glass of red wine for me now.

I am a coke fan too, but it is very commonly drank amongst computer people.
The funny thing is when I do jobs, people always offer me a cup of tea, when I do jobs for asian people they always offer me a can of coke :p:.
Always refuse the tea, but never say no to the coke :).
