We were in a Toby Carvery last Sat when looking out the window I saw 8 quad bikes racing up the road in line astern. They passed several times in the next 40 minutes or so making a heck of a noise, but the ridersseemed to be enjoying themselves immensely. Is road tax required for these bikes, plus insurance in case of an accident with a fellow road user?
Just wondered.
Incidentally, it was in BD20 by the major roundabout intersection where road markings are for very liberal interpretation.

Yes and number plates.Tho' many are used illegally.Helmets are not required.

If you don't need to wear a helmet I'm pretty sure you need to wear a lap belt.
Could be wrong though.

With no roll-over protection, I wouldn't fancy that. Imagine being belted to several hundred pounds of machinery if it somersaulted.

You are, for the very reason that bathtub tom states, and thank god for that.
The potential outcme if they did have belts doesn't bear thinking about. Same goes for many trikes.

I would imagine they need to conform with usual laws just like mini motos, and they can be confiscated and crushed by plod if found to be ridden illegally.
