 Citroen C3 Picasso - towbar - nyx2k
i need a towbar to move my boat occasionallly about 50mtrs on private tarmac rd so i thought id put on a towbar and dont need electrics so how difficult is it to just add a towbar, are the bolt holes already there so its a 30min job.

I get my towbars from A1 towbars of Rotherham. They have a website and are very helpful if you ring them.

Fitted a few and on the Astra late 06 plate just took 1hr 30 mins inc wiring.

Had to remove rear exhaust which you may have to or not hopefully.

it looks like it doeasnt need a bumper cut or removal so should be easier. just hoping its a simple job of offering it up and bolting it on.

All towbars have to be type approved these days (used to make them up out of old angle iron!) and chassis should be pre-drilled. Straightforward job but very heavy work. Lots of heavy metal and high torquing. Ideally done with the car on a lift or at least on high ramps:)

i was hoping on it being a simple thing with regular spanners and axle stands. high toque etc sounds like hard work.
maybe i'll pay out the £300 that the local place wants to inc electrics.
its just a lot of money when the towbar will only use a private rd for several meters instead of leaving the boat on a mooring i can launch it from a friends private slipway and store in his barn.

Nah, its just a regular spanner with a length of scaffold pole over it.

the boat on its trailer weighs in at 1500 but its a shallow slipway and a flat drive to the barn with no corners to go around and last week i moved it 2 miles on its trailer and the towcar was a 1995 1.4 escort.
