According to Motorcycle News M&M is being binned on 31.3.10 - sad really as they carried the TT races and covered them excellently as well as other associated car programmes. Apparently being dumped by ITV (the owners) to make way for its HD service.

It was also the first time I across Richard Hammond.

Interesting you should say tha Iffy - BBC airbrushed that bit out of his CV when he joined Top Gear. Plenty of people (of both genders) of my acquaintance enjoy the TT on it I also enjoyed the retro stuff on it as well - the dog won't watch it.

Wiki, which I know is not the most reliable, mentions Hammond presenting Motor Week on Men and Motors, so I don't think I imagined it.

No date given, but I was a fairly early adopter of OnDigital, so I'd guess it was about 10 or 12 years ago.

You''re absolutely right - he introduced a budget motoring show. It was definitely airbrushed by the BBC though.

Bit of a shame really - although I never thought I'd say such a thing. If you have freesat in France, as opposed to scamming UK Sky as thousands do, MM is the only motoring-based channel you get in English. Mostly junk but occasional nice cars to look at. To make it bearable, because of all those moronic presenters, I have often watched it with the sound turned down!
I guess, because of most of the programmes have whiskers, to say the least, most MM viewers will have a bit of a shock tomorrow because they believe it's 2002.

They used to do excellent live coverage of the BTCC series. Until it went to Sentanta for about 4 minutes and now on ITV4!
