I think I saw somewhere that it will NOT be on iPlayer, either.

It was very good. I get the impression the BBC have decided to broadcast a few progremmes thet were being kept in reserve for obituary purposes lately (eg: Bobby Charlton)

Was this a repeat from when he retired from commentary? Wasn't fully watching it, was on in the TV in the kitchen whilst I was doing my duties!
What I did see though was an interview with Stirling Moss. Am I right in saying he never actually won a championship? Yes, won some races but never ever won a full driver's championship?
If not, why is he lauded as one of our greatest drivers of all time?
|
No it wasnt a repeat of that program. A lot of it was Murray in Australia for the GP and a touring car race earlier this year. Also they had Coulthard down as F1 co commentator, and Brundle as lead commentator.
Stirling Moss was a 3 time runner up in the WC

Correct never won a championship. Greatest UK F1 driver of all time? nah - every one will say Jackie Stewart, some of us will mention Mike Hawthorn, no one lauds Stirling Moss as the greatest F1 driver of all time.
BUT
He was a good all round racer, possibly the best sports car driver we ever had, he won half of all the races he ever entered.
He should be remembered for the Mille Miglia victory, in the gullwing SLR300

Murray is one of those national treasures we are lucky to have, it will be a sad day when he goes, he seems universally well liked which few can ever claim to be.
Great prog.
|
Still when he goes does that mean my signed copy of his autobiography will be worth something?
|
Maybe my autographed £5 note he signed for me at Goodwood a few years back will be worth something (more than a fiver, anyway!).
Not that I wish him ill of course.
|
Damn - his book cost me more than a fiver.
|
I've a paper serviette autographed by him. My daughter was waitressing between terms and thought I'd be pleased.
|
Absolutely total common sense from Murray. Watch this and learn why people do the TT and why it should carry on.
