M1 Closures for Camera Testing - Skoda

I've got visions of a hot police car tearing up the M1 tripping the cameras... I want a shot :-)

If they enforced the 'keep left' requirement, this sort of thing wouldn't be needed half as as much.

Yeah i agree. I think there's been a drop in traffic on the M8 but journey times haven't dropped comparably.

Sometimes wish the 2 lane bit would be upgraded to 3, but then i get to the 3 lane bit and think "what would be the point?"

Having driven down and back up the M1 from j22 to j13 this afternoon, I wholeheartedly agree.

I saw the closure warnings on the matrix signs, but didn't know they were for this.

So what does "calibration testing of the speed enforcement cameras on the Controlled Motorway section" mean? As "Controlled motorways use sensors in the road surface to detect the speed, volume and flow of traffic" does it require several passes in each lane at each of 40, 50, 60, 70 (80?) mph? Or every police diesel Astra in Christendom out at 4am to test the traffic density sensors? Could make a good photo :)
