Don't know enough about this so hoping someone here can advise.
Cousin has her personal plate on her MX5 which has now been sorned for a couple of years since the engine kind of went bang. It was originally a Y plate.
Wants to transfer to her other car but has been told can only transfer if car is removed from SORN and taxed. Of course to tax, she needs an MOT which isn't looking likely here..
Her plan for the Mazda was to sell for spares or repair.
Is there any easy way of getting round this so that she can put her plate on the new car?

Looks as though you can transfer from SORN but must do so within 12 months.

Isn't it possible to put it on retention, and from there transfer to a new vehicle?

Looks as though the rules to transfer onto retention are the same as those for transfer to another vehicule.
