Only kidding. Found while clearing out the garage loft.
I 'think' my dad used to have it in his Maxi mounted under the dash to compliment the MW/LW Crusader radio in the dash. Found that as well, but forgot to take a pic before chucking it in the box to go to the tip. In all I think I must have chucked out 6 car radios, the cassette player above, and a still boxed sakura car radio / cassette player./

I had one of them! wasnt a binatone badged one tho, it was before Binatone.

I had one too must have been in 1971 ish? Still in the garage IIRC.
I can even remember where I bought it -one of the few real discount stores available in London - Houndsditch Warehouse. Badged as Moss I believe?

Looks like a bit of a fire starter. I assume it was instead of a radio?
Would be worth quite a bit now.

I'll never know. Regretting that I didn't put it on ebay now though. Even had the speakers for it.

Yep, just a cassette player. How things have moved on. No bluetooth, mp3 socket, or even a rewind button - you had to eject the cassette, turn it around, fast forward it some, then eject and turn around again. If you were lucky you might have been somewhere near the song you wanted to hear again.

Ah, yes. Harry Moss. Makers of great car alarms - NOT!
Crack open the remote plipper, then use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometer on the PCB to arm/disarm every one else's alarms.
|
I had one too. About 1972. Fixed between the front seats ISTR in a Ford Prefect.
I remember going up to London to buy but I can't remember where.
|
I remember the old Moss Security stickers, very popular in the 80's as well as retro fit Moss remote key fobs.
I saw a CityRover with a crooklock before, I really laughed, as if any thief would want to steal that shed.

I was reliably informed by the handful of car thieves in my peer group as a teenager that Moss car alarms needed nothing more than a well aimed kick to one of the target vehicle's indicators to be rendered completely ineffective.

Smashed indicators used to be a fairly common sight when i was wee. Almost as if Montego's came that way from the factory :-) Couldn't tell the last time i saw one now though.
Wonder if that could have been the reason they were frequently smashed!

The Moss alarm I fitted to my Astra had fuse protection should the indicators (or whatever visual device you wired it in to - eg side lights) get shorted out by a thief.
