 Nissan Micra - £££ - MD
Client has 54 plate auto micra 23k 2 owners. Don't know any more info at all. She is determined to go for the new model which 'she' says is on offer and there is apparently a finance (0%) deal too. To you guys in the know.

1.) What is it worth.
2.) How much will they offer her for it against this new crap......sorry car.

My take with these 'offers/deals' is that it is better to take the new car and exploit the offer and to offload the old car privately or indeed to a dealer who has another punter in tow.

Clearly though at the right price I might place it with Family.

Regards.......MD

The difference for many motorists between a Micra and a Mondeo is running costs of several thousand a year, hence why small cars keep their value so well.

Even a 14 year old Fiesta with a full ticket is worth £500.

Small cars keep their value much better, which is why I bought a small car brand new. It was actually cheaper than some of the second hand prices.

Going off the subject slightly, a workmate has an old shape Nissan Micra that does around 20000 miles a year. I knew he would catch me up in the mileage stakes when I had my BMW that had done around 158k when I sold it. Well, he's now done 159k and still it never goes wrong. It doesn't even feel worn. Phenomenal cars, one of Nissans best.

My late grandads was pretty worn and knackered at 144,000 miles. His was one of the very first bubble Micras on a K plate.

One of the last things I ever remeber him saying to me is that its the best car he's ever had, what he didn't know but my uncle had told me was that the car was rotten underneath and he has built an L reg Fiesta to replace it.

My grandad never knew the white project Fiesta was going to be his car as the big C got him :(

I think by 2000 the rust problems had been sorted and the Micra MK3 is a very very good car, ironic considering its a Renault Clio underneath (well the Clio is actually a Micra but you know what I mean)

The clio is Renaults best, well built and generally reliable platform.

I've had a few Fiat Punto's in the past the 1200 cc and the Diesel Punto nice cars no problems engine wise. The only hitch on the diesel punto was the indicator stalk kept sticking once in a while.Daughters Panda the 1200 cc eco model is running fine.

That's an interesting one - did you ever get to the root cause of the problem?
