Dorset Road Safe have released a list of the most wacky excuses given to traffic police officers by motorists for illegal behaviour on the road: bit.ly/jnxwgp

Everything from "I wasn't wearing a seatbelt because I don't want to get my fake tan smudged" to "No, I wasn't using my phone at the wheel. I was using my laptop."...

A male driver was stopped for doing 42mph in a 30mph zone. Officers explained they were there to conduct speed checks because local people have been complaining. His reply was, "I know, I live here and wrote in about it last week."
