 Hire Car Insurance - rtj70
I know a few on here buy insurance to cover hire car excess instead of paying for the super duper (expensive) collision damage waiver cover when you pick up hire cars. Anyone care to recommend a company?

Note I would want to use one that provides good cover and so the cheapest might not be the best. Last time I hired a car in Europe I needed to use the additional cover provided by Holiday Autos to cover the excess.

Thanks in anticipation.

I used
www.insurance4carhire.com/
a few weeks after they started in business. In a week's car hire I scraped a sill on a rock, it was hit while parked and somebody "Keyed" it. I paid the 500 euro XS and got a refund in about a month. The slight loss I incurred was caused by the fluctuation of the £/Euro exchange rate between the payment I made and the refund I got. I would use them again for sure

Thanks PP. I lost out slightly when I claimed for the excess via Holiday Autos. I think the excess cover was a few pounds per day... the excess was hundreds of Euros. The car though was a write-off :-(

I was timed out while editing my last post! The lot I mentioned are £49 for a year's XS in europe and any number of days hire SFAIK. They do a daily rate as well which a lot less than Hertz, Avis etc charge

Thanks again. I'll probably look at a daily rate as I am unlikely to hire a car again in the following 12 months in Europe.

Just checked the cost of their daily cover - we go for 7 nights so presumably need 8 days cover. So £38. Might as well get the twelve month cover.
