A new version of the E-type has been shown Auto Express this week.

Looks absolutely stunning.

There were some real photos in this month's CAR magazine - talk of it going into limited production as well - lovely looking car.

Jaguar is rapidly becoming my most desired marque.

I simply must have one of the new XJs as soon as I can afford a second hand one (although a Phaeton is still a contender). I think it may soon become my favourite car of all time. I'm not yet ready to move the Alfasud down one peg in my affections, but it's becoming a close run thing.

ive always wanted a moderen luxury car and as soon as an new xj comes to around 20k then im down the dealer right away.
might get an xf but i think the xj will be cheaper in the long run

I've twice had stop myself buying an XF or a new XJ - had to lock the money away and hide the key in a box buried in the garden and built a shed over it !

It doesn't look too much like an E-tyype, but it does look similar to another modern car I've seen somewhere - I wonder what that was?

The side view looks a bit like a Ferrari Daytona to me.

I thought that too, perhaps with a touch of old Corvette Stingray?

Yes, see what you mean, maybe a crossbreed between the Daytona and a '69 'vette. A very nice looking car anyway.

It looks more like an E-type than that Citroen DS thing does to the original.

The glasshouse resembles Aston Martin from the side IMO, and the front view is a bit Bentley Continential GT-ish with those four headlamps. Can't fault the rear view though, beautiful classic Jaguar lines.

I'm a big fan of modern interpretations of classic car designs such as the Dodge Challenger Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang, as well as the the Beetle, Fiat 500 and even the MINI. I wish there were more.

Standing outside the local shops yesterday after picking Spamcan Junior up from school, some cool dude pulls up in a new style Camaro, bright yellow with a wide black stripe. One of a gaggle of schoolboys points at it and chants 'bumble bee' in the manner of Nelson from the Simpsons. Soon about half a dozen of his mates join in. Camaro driver doesn't look quite such a cool dude at this point. :-)

Looks aren't everything. The coefficient of drag of the 1969 E Type was 0.4, which is high by today's standards. www.getcarspecs.com/jaguar/1969-jaguar-e-type

Looks like a Jensen Interceptor.

There's a bit of the Datsun 240Zs about it in my book. Probably my favourite Japanese car.

Mine too; I reckon in terms of a single car that has a very similar shape I reckon the 240Z is the nearest:-

Is this a good time to say "Bristol Fighter"?

I think it looks quite a bit curvier than the Interceptor from the side, but the rear does have quite a strong Interceptor look about it.

MD - some being rebuilt, it seems. Sorry it is the DM and not somebody who knows about cars,
